The transition between the sea and salt marsh is the inspiration for Peter Stolvoorts’ Salt Grass paintings. These works celebrate: sea breezes, the calls of sand pipers, the flash of red-winged blackbirds, and the soft rustle of reeds and grasses.
To create these lively works, Peter first applies an underpainting of the marsh and sky. Using fluid acrylics and a finely trimmed wide brush, he applies one layer of color at a time, allowing each color to dry before applying the next. Through this process, Peter creates these vibrant sculptural expressions of life in the salt marsh.
